Taking the Plunge

After a fierce bidding war, Travis and I became homeowners in December of 2010. Our new home is a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath, built in 1957. It is about 1800 square feet which coincidentally is almost the same as the apartment we are vacating. We are gaining space though in the form of a 2-car attached garage and a huge shed out back. So no more bedroom-dedicated-to-bike-storage!!! We are also gaining about half an acre of yard that Travis is really looking forward to maintaining. The new place is a little further from Broad Ripple than we hoped, but we saved about $100k by going just about 1 mile away. And we are still pretty close, and very close to Holliday Park.

When we first visited the house, Travis hated it. It was stark white and the little furniture remaining was very reflective of the eldery couple that was selling the house. It took a little convincing and descriptive imagining for Travis to realize its potential and what a difference some paint and our own furniture would make. Still, the house was far from perfect and we knew we had some work ahead of us, including a kitchen remodel.

Originally, I didn't want to have any visitors over until we could remodel/redecorate the home to impress all our friends and family. But as the work progresses, we realized you may be interested in the transformation process as much as the end result. So we will try to catch up up on what we've been working on this winter and continue to give updates on the projects ahead.
